Benefits of Being a Lego Master Builder
One of my favorite parts of The Lego Movie is Emmitt’s transformation to become a master builder. At the beginning of the movie, Emmitt could not imagine building anything on his own. As the movie progresses, he finally does build something, a double-decker couch!
Children benefit from learning to be Lego master builders, too. The picture above is one of my son’s own creations. He’s working to become a master builder.
Children with the skills to free-form build with Legos (without the Lego directions) expand their creativity and imagination. They use their mind to create new designs and forms. They enhance their fine motor skills using small parts. They also learn color coordination, balance and symmetry (such as making sure the wings on the plane match on both sides).
Legos can be part of the your child’s education experience. Don’t miss the ways Legos can enhance your child’s learning. Encourage them to become master builders today!
