One of the first things we learn about the Bible is that it is the Word of God. It is not one single book, but a library of 66 books, written by under the inspiration of God by more than 40 human authors over a period of more than a thousand years. The entire collection of 66 books tells one unified story about God, His relentless love for us, and how we can have a relationship with Him.
The Bible is our constant companion in our faith journey as we learn more about God and seek to know Him. It is important that we understand how it is organized, beyond the fact that it is divided into the Old Testament and the New Testament. This is because knowing where a particular passage is found in the Bible gives us a clue to its context, which in turn helps us understand the passage in its proper context. In the same way that we would read and understand a law journal differently from a poem, we should interpret a passage from Leviticus differently from a verse taken from Psalms.
Bible Games Central has a collection of Books of the Bible Games that are designed to help players become more familiar with the various books and sections of the Bible. These games are easy to prepare and many of them come with beautiful FREE Bible game printables!
Bible Bingo
One of our favorites in this collection is Bible Bingo. It is uniquely designed to help players learn and remember the books and sections of the Bible as they play.
Bible Bingo Cards are divided into sections, with each section having a distinct border color. These sections correspond to the sections of the Bible, such as Old Testament Law, Old Testament History, New Testament Letters from Paul, etc.
Bible Bingo Calling Cards correspond to the 66 books of the Bible. Each card is illustrated to reflect the contents of their respective book, and the color bar at the bottom of Bible Bingo Calling Cards match the border color on Bible Bingo Cards.
All these cards are beautifully designed and provided as FREE downloads. However, you can also purchase the ready-to-play version that is printed on sturdy cards and packaged with 400 plastic bingo chips and a 12-page overview of the books and sections of the Bible.
