How to be a Successful Student with the Centered Student Planner
As students reach high school and college, as parents we want them to become more independent and organized with their time.
The Centered Student Planner is a student focused planner to help students learn to organize assignments, work, and personal schedules and find time to study.
How to use this planner
It’s easy to forget that high school and college students don’t know how to use a planner and manage their time well. I’ve been using planners for so long, it seems natural to me. But recently, my daughter mentioned she didn’t feel like you knew how to use her planner.
I love how the Centered Student Planner teaches students how to use this planner and make their days successful. These two pages at the beginning of the planner provide a step-by-step guide to making the planner more efficient.
Monthly Planning
This planner runs from August 2022 to July 2023 a typical school year.
Every month starts with a 2-page monthly layout which gives your student an overview for the month. This is great space to mark holidays, exam schedules, projects and assignments, upcoming events and more. These pages should be used for a monthly big picture.
Having a monthly overview allows students the ability to see how quickly assignments will be due so they can build time into their weekly schedule for each task.
Don’t forget to scan the QR code in the beginning of the planner for access to weekly videos that help you use the planner and be successful in college. It’s like having your own college professor success coach.
Weekly Planning
The weekly planning pages are the heart of this planner. Being able to see your time, will help you learn to manage your time better. The 2-page weekly spread allows your student to see hourly schedules for class, study groups, club meetings, work and more.
Hourly scheduling is available from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm each weekday and a summary on Saturday and Sunday. As you look at each day and see openings, you can learn to chunk tasks together and not panic over due dates.
It’s a great habit to start every Sunday evening by updating your planner for the next week or two. By completing the weekly schedule you won’t be caught by surprise with a test or project due date. In fact, at the beginning of the each semester fill-in assignments for each class if a due date is provided in the syllabus.
Take Notes
I was always a writer, so taking notes was natural to me. Write, don’t tap. It’s true, you are more likely to remember something if you write it down on paper.
The Centered Student Planner has ample pages for notes. These pages could be used for class notes, project notes, homework assignments and more.
The back cover of the planner has a pocket with a 5o page weekly “to-do” list notepad, too.
Success Tips
Each week the planner has a success tip or thought. These tips are selected based on the time of the year so they will help you with your studies like getting started, how to manage your social life and how to prepare for finals.
You will have access to a short video to help you with each weekly tip.
Overall the Centered Student Planner is a well designed planner that will help students be organized and plan each semester for success.
