Have you ever wondered the origins of why we leave cookies for Santa?
Some stories say this tradition started back during the great depression. Parents wanted to encourage their kids to give to others and share with those less fortunate than themselves even in hard times.
Here’s another story that tells the origins of Christmas cookies, The Legend of the Christmas Cookie. My daughter loves this story, and it’s a sweet way to share the true meaning of Christmas with children.
I’m not sure if either story is true or not, but sharing Christmas cookies with friends and family is a great way to inspire the Christmas spirit and give to others. Plus, if you bake the cookies yourself it’s a more personal gift because it required your time and your skills (cooking/baking). I love the idea of having my kids share with others at Christmas.
