Word for the Week – Sowing

Spring is a time to sow. Planting seeds for a future harvest. Come share your posts at Mom-to-Mom Mondays.

Last week, the word for the week was renewal.  Another word for spring is sowing.  We plant seeds in our gardens, we nurture them, and in a few weeks or months, we have a harvest.  This year, we decided to try a spring garden again (last year nothing grew or the plants died before harvest, but we are trying again).  The girls and I planted some spring vegetables that included tomatoes, summer squash, onions, carrots, watermelons, peppers and spring flowers.

As mothers, we also sow truth and encouragement in our children’s hearts every day.  We are planting the seeds that we know will grow and help our children become the adults we know that can be.  As moms, our job is to be faithful to sowing and nurturing the seeds we are planting every day and having confidence that God will grow the seeds we have planted in their hearts.

Remember, it is not our job to grow the seeds, it is only our responsibility to plant the seeds.  Anyone who has ever grown a garden knows the hardest part is growing the seeds.  When planting and nurturing is difficult, trust in these promises.

Promises from God

2 Corinthians 9:6,  “The point is, whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reaps will also reap bountifully.”

1 Corinthians 3:6, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.”

Even when you are tired and feel you are not getting results, do not stop planting and watering the seeds you are planting.  In time, you will see growth.

Mom-to-Mom Mondays a place for moms to share. Join us and share your posts every Sunday night starting at 8:00 pm.
