Word for the Week – Mom
Happy Mother’s Day! Join me today as I celebrate moms and all you do for your family and children. I hope you have a wonder Mother’s Day and enjoy special time with your children today.
Moms have a special and important role in their children’s lives. The role of a mother should not be taken for granted. You are the person God chose to be the mom for your children.
3 Reasons Moms Are Important For Their Children
Moms are a role model
Our children watch us each day and everything we do. They are taking mental notes. They are quick to remind you of your mistakes and it seems fast to forget when we do things right.
As moms, we need to remember our children are watching and will someday make decisions for themselves frequently based on the model provided by their parents. Take a moment today and consider how can you improve as a role model for your children.
Moms train their children in matters of faith and values
Moms influence their children by teaching them faith and values. Our children will be greatly impacted by our beliefs and faith. As moms, we must daily teach our children faith and show them our beliefs and values.
Our children will ask us questions every day that give us the opportunity to teach them right from wrong. We must never shrink from this responsibility or pass it off to others. Teaching our children our values and beliefs ensures we can pass those beliefs down as our children grow.
Moms must boldly take every opportunity to teach our children and reinforce the values of our family. Teaching moments don’t have to be complicated, they can be simple instruction from a conversation while driving in the car or at the dinner table.
Moms can pray
Prayer can change your children and situations. Moms can pray for the specific need of their children.
A mom’s prayer for her child is important to God. Remember Hannah in the Old Testament, she asked God for a child. In I Samuel 1:20, it says, “… and the Lord remembered her.” The Lord remembered Hannah’s prayer for a child and she was given Samuel. Moms can pray specifically and ask God to bless their children and make them
Moms can ask God to bless their children. Do not underestimate the impact of a mom’s prayers for her children.
Promises from God
Psalms 127:3: “Behold children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.”
Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
