Successful bloggers have a marketing plan to share product promotions and affiliate product offers. They aren’t just randomly offering products.
How to Create a Promotion Plan
Start with your best products
If you have products of your own to sell, create a marketing plan with promotions at least once a month.
Decide when you will offer your promotions. Will they be focused on holidays sales like a 4th of July Blowout or Black Friday deals? Or will you just create special promotions randomly during the month?
Start by marking your planner with your own special deals.
Brainstorm Promotion Offers
If you plan to offer flash sales or special offers to your subscribers, you will want to have a list of promotions you can use.
Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Buy one, get one 50%
- Select % off one item in your shop
- Select % off entire purchase in your shop
- Flash sale for 48 hours
- Create a bundle of products, but only offer it for a limited time

Add Affiliate Promotions
Bloggers and companies you are an affiliate for will usually send you a notice 1-2 weeks before special sales. When you hear about these sales if you want to promote the product, add this promotion to your promotion planner.
If you notice an affiliate promotion is overlapping with one of your planned promotions, you will need to decide if you want to change your promotion so there’s conflict, continue with both promotions, or not include the affiliate promotion.
Remember, you can also segment your list (if you have it tagged) and offer select products and items to only select groups on your email list. For example, offer your own product to one segment of your list and an affiliate product to a different segment.
Adjust Your Plan to Meet Your Goals
A successful marketing plan usually needs to be flexible. In marketing, you will notice some promotions will be very successful, better than you expect. While other promotions will not be as successful.
Always be reviewing your plans, checking your sales and promotion results and deciding if you need to adjust your marketing plans to increase your sales.
Coordinate Blog Posts and Emails with Promotions
Once you have a schedule with your marketing plan and product promotions set-up, you can coordinate your blog posts and email messages with your promotions.
For example, if you are promoting products on time management, you can write a blog post on time management and promote it in the blog post. Or, you could write an email to your subscribers who are interested in time management. You could share a few time management tips and include your affiliate link.
Plan Multiple Times to Reach Your Audience with an Offer
You’ve heard it said it takes 6 to 8 touches for a buyer to be ready to purchase. Most of the time, you can’t just offer an item one time, expect huge sales and call it a day.
Customers need information. They need to learn about new products and new offers. Don’t be discouraged if your first email and first offer aren’t a smashing success with a huge payday.
Remember, it usually takes time for your audience to build their trust in you. Plus, buyers need multiple touches with a product to be ready to make a purchase.
