Start Your Day With Encouragement
Life is busy. If you are a mom, your life can be extra busy taking care of yourself, your spouse and your children. Do you take a few minutes every day just for you? To make your morning a success mornings, you need to take time for you.
In lesson 4 of Make Over Your Mornings, Crystal shares with us the importance of taking a few minutes every day for ourselves, give yourself an incentive or encouragement every morning. By giving ourselves a break and doing something we really love and enjoy, we are better able to handle the challenges of the day and encourage others.
Morning Incentives
Sometimes finding the motivation to get up is difficult. I am not by nature a morning person. I don’t like getting up early in the mornings, but I have learned to enjoy the early mornings hours. Just as Crystal mentions in the workbook and video, the early morning allows her time to complete important tasks before her children are up. You too can use this early morning time to complete things important to you.
What can you do to energize yourself in the morning? If you have 15-30 minutes to yourself every day, what would you do? Would you read a book? Study your Bible? Exercise? Work on your favorite hobby? Maybe it’s just enjoying your first cup of coffee in quiet and planning your day.
Take a moment now and picture what is your favorite way to relax and unwind. What are you thinking about? Do you allow yourself the time to enjoy this activity every day?
Self-Care and Rest is not Selfish
You may be thinking, Rachel, my family needs me. I am too busy to take time to read, exercise or just enjoy my coffee. When you go day after day with no rest and time for you to just breathe, you will become exhausted and overwhelmed. You will not be able to meet the needs of your family. Taking time for yourself is one of the best things you can do to prepare yourself to care for your family every day.
Remember, sometimes it’s just a few moments early in the morning that will give you the extra energy you need to make your day a success.
Today’s Challenge
Write down how you will start your day by taking a few minutes (maybe just 10-20 minutes) for something you really enjoy and will help you recharge and be ready for the day.
Next write down on your planner or calendar what you are going to do to recharge every day. I am learning it is important to write these things down on a planner. I find things I write on my planner are more likely to get done than if I just think, I really wish I would….
Your turn…
How are you going to relax and recharge? What can you do that will be time for you?
Remember to pick something you really love so it will be an incentive and help you get up and start your day with success. I love to start my day by writing. It helps me relax and focus and when I have time to write every day, I enjoy the rest of my day more. What will you do for you today?
