Do you feel like you are missing something in your Bible study? Would you like to feel a deeper connection with God during your devotional time? Bible journaling allows you to write your thoughts, feelings, and response to your daily Bible readings.
What is Bible Journaling?
Bible journaling has many forms. Some Bible journalers like to write beautiful hand-lettered verses in the margins of their Bible. While other journalers draw colorful pictures depicting the message they have read in their Bible or in the margins of their Bible. Others, like me, prefer to write our thoughts in a notebook or journal using a question or prompt.
There is no right or wrong way to Bible journal, you should choose a format that best fits your personality.
How do you start Bible Journaling?
To start Bible journaling, let your words or pictures be an outflow of your feeling and expression of God’s work in you. Journaling can be a way to praise God in word and pictures. It can also be a way to grow closer to God through a deeper understanding of the scriptures you are reading.
If you are good with hand-lettering or drawing, start with simple art and write a Bible verse in your favorite hand-lettered script. If you are not very artistic or your art needs practice, you can journal with words in a notebook or separate journal.
Find a way to express yourself that you like and is enjoyable for you and get started.

One of the most popular places for Bible journaling is in the margins of your Bible. If your Bible offers wide margins, you can journal in the margins.
Some Bibles are journaling Bibles and include extra space for writing in the margins like this Journal the Word Bible or if you aren’t skilled drawing on your own, you can use the Beautiful Word Coloring Bible.
Drawing on the Page
Some Bible journalers like to write or draw on the whole page, not just the margins. Drawing across the whole page might be for you if you are more of a free spirit.
