Moms and daughters need special “dates” to have fun and make special mother/daughter memories.  Have you ever had a mom and daughter date? Mom and daughter dates give you time to be “girlie”.  Girls love time to just be girls.  If you don’t have a daughter you are not left out, moms and sons can have dates with 10 Fun Mom & Son Dates.

My daughters love to have special time with mom (of course, they are still just 9 years old and 6 years old).  My nine-year-old declares it “girl day” every Saturday and tries to come up with a long list of things just the girls can do for the day with no boys allowed.  Her list might include shopping, going out to eat (she loves to eat at restaurants), getting ice cream and any other crazy idea that comes to her that morning.

Girls love to have fun with their moms! These amazing mom & daughter dates will create unforgettable memories.

10 “Girlie” Dates for Mom & Daughter

Here are some amazing ideas to make your Mom & daughter date an unforgettable one.  Remember, it’s not what you do on your special date that makes it unforgettable, it’s the special memories you make together.

1. A Tea Party

We love tea parties.  We had a tea party for my oldest daughter’s birthday party last year and just invited girls.  It was so much fun.  Girls of all ages love tea parties. With little girls, you can have a pretend tea party at home or if your daughter is a little older you can get dressed up and go to a tea room for tea.

Tea parties are so much fun.  Sampling the cookies and treats, sipping your tea.  You and your daughter can feel like princesses.

2. Manicure/Pedicure

Who doesn’t like to be pampered? Girls love to get a manicure or pedicure together. You can pamper yourself at home or go to a salon.  There is just something special about having your finger nails and toe nails painted.

3. Go to a Chick-Flick

When Disney released Cinderella last spring, the girls and I had a girls only afternoon at the movies.  We loved the story, the beautiful gowns and the fun.

4. Dress Up and Do a Photo Shoot

Be a little silly and a little serious, get dressed up (maybe matching outfits?), find some great locations and take pictures together.  Do some serious photos and some silly photos.  Take the best pictures and make a photo collage.

5. Cook Dinner or Your Favorite Desserts Together

Girls love to cook and make desserts.  I grew up baking all types of desserts and treats.  My daughters always want to help when I am baking (something about cracking eggs?).  Have a day of cooking and baking together.  Make your family’s favorite dinner or try some new desserts.

6. Movie Marathon on Netflix

Find all your favorite movies on Netflix and plan a day to stay in, cozy-up and watch your favorite movies all day (or watch all the episodes of your favorite show).  Don’t forget the popcorn.

7. Walk in the Park and Pick a Bouquet of Colorful Flowers

On a warm and sunny day, go walking in a park and gather a beautiful bouquet of flowers to take home.  Try to find as many colors as you can.

8. Make a Special Project Together

If you are crafty (not me), you can make crafts together.  You can find all types of fun crafts on Pinterest.

You could make gifts for friends or teachers.  Or make something to wear like a necklace.

9. Have a Mom & Daughter Reading Club

Start a Mom & Daughter book club, every month choose a new book to read.  You can choose the best girlie books like Little Women and Anne of Green Gables.

As you read the books together, discuss the characters and what you like about them and what you can learn from them.

10. Visit Your Favorite/Special Place

Let your daughter pick a special place she would like to go (within reason and within your budget limits).  Maybe out to lunch at her favorite place or to get frozen yogurt where you make your own treat.

Mom and daughter dates can be fun and make special memories for you and your daughter.

Your turn…

What do you and your daughter do for mom-daughter dates?  Do you have a special memory from your mom-daughter dates?

  1. Picnics are fun, too. Even if they are just in the backyard.
My daughter and I like to turn our walks into scavenger hunts, too. We try to see how many types of birds, wild flowers, or insects we can spot.
